Trusting God in Your Changing Seasons
64 degrees.
It seems like we are experiencing the coldest spring ever. I can’t pack away any of my cardigans because the weather has been so inconsistent I’m not sure what to expect from one day to the next. The activities that I wanted to do with the kids have been postponed. It’s just all around inconvenient.
It’s almost like the seasons are resisting the necessary change.
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” -Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT)
Sometimes we resist making the necessary changes to transition into our next season. We cling to people, relationships, behavior, and visions that have been stamped “seasonal” within our lives. We allow these things to occupy space beyond their intended “shelf life.” There is a God prescribed length of time for each thing in our life and we must be willing to acknowledge and let go of things as they become unsuitable for us or ill-fit for consumption.
There’s always a certain degree of discomfort that accompanies change. Changing seasons may require we practice forgiveness without the apology; moving on with unanswered questions, or leave without a destination. We must trust God and be willing to put an end to one season so that we are afforded an opportunity to experience what He has in store for us in the next season.
So, today ask yourself…Are you in the appropriate season? Are you resisting making the transition from one season to the next? Remain sensitive to the adjustments God is calling you to make. Trust His guidance. Allow God to put an end to that relationship, that person, that behavior, and that vision with the knowledge that you will miss out on experiencing the fullness of your future if you can’t let go of the past. It’s a new season. Embrace it.
