For the last forty days, I have been listening to Psalms 23 every morning when I rise and every evening before I go to bed. One thing that has continued to stand out to me over the last few weeks is the beautiful truth that The Lord is my Shepherd.
Psalm 78:20, 23-25, 27, 29
Sometimes, it's easy to forget that nothing is impossible for God, and with God nothing is impossible. Even when things are impossible for us, there is nothing God can not handle.
Sometimes, I forget that this journey I am on is one of which I do not walk alone- God is with me. God goes before me, He hedges me in, and He walks with me every step of the way. God is aware of my needs and wants. God is able to provide, I need not worry. I can wait and watch the story of God’s provision unfold before my eyes. I will not be forsaken or left begging for bread.
In fact, You will have more than enough. In Psalms 23, God speaks over us that our cups (life) will overflow; that, because the Lord is our Shepherd, we will not be in want; we will not lack anything. God provides for us in an overflowing manner so that He can bless others through us.
You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way. Psalms 132:15, “I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.” God provides, dear sisters, and His provision does not default or run dry. Whatever we have need of, God can provide. Our cups will overflow, and the provision we will receive will not simply be just for us, but it will bless others too.
God is an unlimited resource. He has access to everything we need, and He can create anything we need with just a word. Because the Lord is your Shepherd you lack nothing (Psalm 23:1). Ask Him for what you need, and trust that it is on the way to you. God can provide, there is nothing that you will need that God is unable to provide. Ask and trust He will provide, for the Lord your God is your Shepherd.
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:
'They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.'
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God."
-2 Corinthians 9:6-12
"For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’
She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah."
