Season Acceptance

I'm just like all of you, sisters- I'm waiting on the Lord to move in my life. Waiting to have my promises delivered. I know it is written, I know my destiny is prepared in front of me. However, sometimes impatience sets in. What should you do when anxiety has your mind reeling and your stomach churning? Rest. When I say rest, I don’t mean for you to literally sleep. I’m saying that we must accept every season in our lives. We should rest our wandering minds and hearts. Philippians 4:6-7 says,

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

I challenge you, dear sisters: When you’ve done everything that you can do and there is still no rest for your weary spirit, pray and hand it over to Christ. Place it in the hands of the One who is most capable for handling all of your needs.

As Christians, there are certainly times in our lives where we have to utilize all of who we are through Bible studies, worship, testifying and listening to testimonies, ministry, and convictions, as well as stepping out in faith and truly believing in our hearts when it's downright hard to. In the various seasons of our lives, there will be times of constant growth, building up, and prospering. However, there are also times in our life when things are quiet and still, just like the season of winter. Do we worry all winter long thinking that spring will never come? Of course not! That’s exactly why you shouldn’t worry during your winter seasons in your life. Instead, you should use your quiet periods in your life to draw even closer to the Lord to invest yourself deeper into His word. God is always behind the scenes- even in your fall and winter times -seeking to prepare you for a new spring and summer. Enjoy these seasons of reflection and cessation, and trust truly that God knows what is best for your life. When you feel fretful, get into your quiet time space and pray, listen to sermons, or journal. Release those negative emotions to the Lord. In Matthew 11:30 Jesus says,

“For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Isn’t Jesus more than capable? Can’t you trust in Him knowing that He cannot lie? In our times of winter and fall seasons, make sure your arsenal for any spiritual warfare is stocked full of prayer, patience, and peace.

The Word is the only thing that keeps me from going crazy and being lost in confusion and frustration. I feel just as you do; I have goals to accomplish and work to do. But in all those things, I remember God will give us the desires of our hearts- in His time, not ours. So, I'm just waiting on the Lord and doing my part. While He's preparing me, I'm digging into the Word and seeking His face because God rewards us when we follow Him even if we find ourselves in the valley. God desires to prosper you through the path of life that He has called you to take. Be encouraged by this beautiful truth today.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” -Matthew 6:33
