Flutter in Faith

One of my favorite things to do when I was a little girl was swing. The second recess rolled around, all I could think about was how excited I was to fly. Staying in line on the walk over to the playground was the ultimate challenge for me. All I wanted to do was run to my favorite swing and use every minute of recess I had to "play in the sky."

Earlier this week, I went to a retreat that took place at a camp for kids, so, naturally there was a playground. When I finally had some free time, the first thing this big girl did was make her way over to the little girl swings. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back as I took my lift off. Talk about a dose of nostalgia.

As I continued to lean back while I swung, I opened my eyes to a lovely lavender bush with two of the biggest and most beautiful butterflies I had ever seen right behind me. They had taken their landing and I had taken my lift off.

You see, just like butterflies we, too, have wings.
Just like butterflies we, too, are breathtakingly beautiful.
Ah, and just like butterflies we, too, are free.

Did you know butterflies cannot live without the sun? They cannot produce heat on their own, so they must rely on the sun to give them strength for their flight.

As Christians, we can certainly relate to this. In order to take flight, we need the Son to warm us, too. We don't get very far when we rely on our own strength. This is because we have to rely on the love, strength, and wisdom of Christ before we can accomplish anything for the Kingdom.

God calls us to spread our wings and fly in faith. Isn't that a beautiful invitation?

Yes, spreading our wings isn't easy, and flying entails obstacles. However, there's a reason we're called to fly.

We'd get nowhere if we didn't attempt to fly. The more attempts we make, the more training experience we receive from it. So try, try, and try again. Never give up. Soak up the Son. Spend time in the Word and in prayer and let the Lord equip you with everything you need in order to take flight through your time spent in His presence.

God gave you wings because He wants you to encounter every destination and life experience He has in store- just for you. But, you must learn how to fly according to His purposes, not yours.

Ladies, you are a unique, one-of-a-kind creation, and you are His. Let God be the reason you flutter your wings. Fly in faith.

Take a second to think of how many millions of butterflies there are in this world. (7+ billion)
Now, take a second to think of how many millions of humans there are in the world. (15-20,000 species)

God made every single thing in this world. Every single butterfly. Every one of us.

He breathed life into every ounce of His creation.
He breathed life into you.

Let these words empower you. Find confidence in this Truth and fly in it.
Ladies, there's a reason we're called to fly. Fly for the Reason that gave you your reason.
Your final destination will be worth your long and adventurous flight- you have my word. Most importantly, though, you have His word.

"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself." -Philippians 3:20-21
