Calgon Bath soap had very popular commercials back in the late 80's and 90's. This miraculous bubble bath claimed to have the ability to rescue women from crying babies and bumper to bumper traffic. All the overwhelmed female had to do was yell, "Calgon, take me away!" Immediately, we then see her in a luxurious bubble bath, care and distraction free. Oh, if it were only this simple. If we could open our mouths and say, "Calgon, take me away!" and see no more distractions. How amazing that would be. But, the reality is, that life can be full of distractions and Calgon can not take us away. Marital issues, jobs, to-do lists, financial woes, kids, etc. So many things that vie for our attention. Things that seek to distract and steal your focus so that you won't clearly hear the voice of your Father God. Things that affect your ability to listen.
“Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you
will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you
all the unfailing love I promised to David.(Isaiah 55:3, NLT)
We must come to God with our ears wide open and listen,
because it's in Him that we have life. Abundant and everlasting life. Life to
the full, until it overflows. But, we can't allow anything to block our
hearing.
In the 13th chapter of Matthew, Jesus taught the parable
of the soils. And when he finished the parable He said these words, "He who has
ears to hear, let him hear!"
Let's read the rest of this account starting at verse
10.
"And the disciples came and said to Him, 'Why do You speak to them in parables?' He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand." (Matthew 13:10-13)
As a believer, you must know, that it has been given to
you to know and understand the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Everyone can not
hear what you hear.
It's been graciously given to you to know the mysteries
or the secret things of God.
There are ideas, strategies, songs, writings, secret and
hidden things He wants to show you.There is prophetic insight and revelation
He wants to release.
But, do we value this gift? Do we esteem this gift as
priceless? Do we protect our ear gates or does anyone or anything have
access?
The world, and circumstances are constantly whispering
sweet nothings in your ears. Sweet nothings. Things that are empty. Things that
simply serve to keep you from hearing the mysteries God wants to
reveal.
Circumstances are whispering. Your past is whispering.
Mistakes you've made are whispering to you. The flesh, for some, is even
screaming.
We are bombarded with voices that are vying for our
attention, time and focus. Distractions that hinder us from receiving the life
and peace we only find in God.
God wants to reveal so much to you. So, It is a must
that you get rid of the background noises. Things that distract, and keep you from hearing Him. All
of the spiritual clutter, disorder, and chaos.
You must clearly hear what God is saying. Not what your BFF is saying. Not what your flesh is
saying.
But, you need an ear that's open and attentive to the
Heavens right now.
Because this is the season of "as it is in Heaven!" His
kingdom come. His will being done. On Earth as it's already done in
Heaven. So you have to know what He's saying in the Heavens and
that is what you are to believe, expect, and fulfill in the Earth. We're simply vessels, fulfilling the will of the Father
in the Earth. And as vessels, our ears must be sensitive to His
voice. There can be no background noises or
distractions.
Background noise keeps you from hearing what God is
saying. It causes you to miss His voice.
Let's talk about noise in the natural. Too much noise can have negative effects. There have been studies done on the effects of noise such as, excessive background noise, too much TV constantly playing in the background, and environmental noises, on children. Every study had the same conclusion. Too much noise has negative effects on children. It reduces speech intelligibility, hearing and understanding of speech.They have lower attention spans. Too much noise also affects development, social skills, and ability to focus.
Let me tell you, it's the same for us spiritually. Too
many distractions affect us in a negative way. It affects what we say, what we
hear spiritually and what we understand. Distractions affect our thinking. We think and meditate
according to what our circumstances say. Then, our lives are filled with
frustration, disorder and chaos. No peace.
Today, call upon God and ask Him to give you peace in
spite of circumstances. And, an ear to hear clearly.
