I think we worry too much about what people think and how important they see us to be. We want to be seen, accepted, and recognized so badly. Often we visualize how being with the right crowd, spouse, or person will take us to the next level and where we need to be; and we forget who is truly orchestrating it all. As Christians, many times we look at other Christians lives and think about how blessed they are, but we forget that the only reason is because of Christ. Do not get me wrong, there are things that we have to put our best foot forward for; God definitely did not put us here on earth to just rest, bury our talents, and wait on us hand and foot. We are here to serve God.
I just think that sometimes we want to have our hand in things that we cannot control. It has gotten to the point where I have seen women these days proposing to men and it is disheartening to see because it shows me that we are not really understanding what it means to walk with Christ. Women proposing to men are just one example but there are so many more examples out there. We have forsaken Christ and we are trying to operate in our own ways, forgetting that we are so broken without Him.
Our lives without God are full of deep wounds, holes, and crevices, yet we are trying to patch them up with things that will only temporarily please us; and after all of that we are still thirsty. We are thirsty for an eternal God that we can never find in any place, other than through Christ. We are hungry for time, attention, affection, love, and desires that only the Lord can fulfill. I read a quote that shared how when we forsake God, we end up turning to something broken.
We definitely see these things from social media, or even when people go to Christian conferences, where the center is supposed to be Christ but it ends up being what you can get out of it, who’s number you got, or what popular Christian artist you became friends with. Again, not that you cannot give people props for the work that God is doing in their lives, but remember who the author of these blessings are.
“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water,” (Jeremiah 2:13, NIV).
The type of recognition we are looking for will never be found in people. If we are doing the work of the Lord, He will bless us with relationships, opportunities, and experiences that will be nourishing and beneficial to our lives, as well as others. He will not give us a spouse, job, ministry, or anything that is not going to glorify Him. Remember that there must be a purpose for all of these things to come together; it is not only about what we desire, rather it is about what is building up the kingdom of God. Many of us struggle with this and we get frustrated when things are not moving along as we would like; but remember that sometimes our frustrations can be a distraction and take us away from the very thing we deeply need and desire.
Let God be the spring that leads you to His unending river of blessings, flowing through your life. We will never run dry if we would just allow His living water to seep in all of the brokenness in our lives. We need Him in every way.
“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High,” (Psalms 46:4, ESV).
Know that all of what you need, whether it be acceptance, understanding, recognition, love, a spouse, home, a job, and more come from God. He sees you and there is nothing else that compare to His rewards.
There have been times when there was a guy I liked and I could have done numerous kicks, back flips, turns, and jumps in front of him but he still did not see me. If God did not allow it happen, it may not be the right guy, time, or just the simple fact that the Lord has something better planned for me.
Sometimes we like to force feed relationships and then we end up in a bad situation. It can be difficult waiting and I will not pretend like it is not hard; but I have seen some marriages and situations in life where I have to pray for the people in them and thank God for His grace that kept me.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine," (Isaiah 55:8 ESV).
