Safe Place

It’s often difficult to see God in our hardships. Our devotion to living a righteous life does not free us from heartache, disappointment, or challenging times. We want to trust God and we do to an extent, but when our world stops making sense we wrestle with the fear that God has abandoned us.

“Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?” —Hebrews 12:7 (NIV)

Find comfort in the notion that everything that touches us passes through God's hands first. From the good to the bad God has allowed us to experience this situation and because He's good…it's for OUR good. It's easy to say we have faith when times are great, but to demonstrate our faithfulness when we're going through “it” is a challenge.

We’re conditioned to hide behind a façade of strength, but we have a safe place with God. We are allowed to NOT be okay when we are with God. Jesus is ready to intercede on our behalf.

“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” —Hebrews 7:25 (NIV)

So, today don’t underestimate God’s presence in your life. We are afforded the greatest Advocate, Counselor, Comforter, and Encourager; however, we must be willing to submit our hardships to Jesus and allow Him to intercede on our behalf. Remain faithful. Stay true to your commitment to follow Jesus. Commit your hardships to prayer. Share with God. He is your safe place.
