Key Verses: Genesis 1:1, 3; Mark 10:27 & Isaiah 55:10-11
There are always things that
need to get done. The lingering question I ask when faced with my
circumstances, inabilities, and other obstacles; How is this getting done? How
am I going to accomplish this? I get overwhelmed and I stressed out. I remember
what God said about the situation but it only causes more stress. I can not see
the way or method to its completion. What do I do? What happens next?
Recently, I revisited Genesis
the very first verse and took some time to mediate on it. I listened to a
complete of sermons on it. There was one verse that was the key verse in all
the discussion of Genesis Chapter One. It was Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning
God created the heavens and the earth." In fact, Genesis 1:1 is one of those
verses I could recite when I was a kid then
the meaning was unknown to me. After some listening and studying I can see the
meaning is simple and profound.
In Genesis, God spoke the
world into existence. With just the Word spoken by God something came from
nothing. The method in which we operate is different. We make things out of other
things but God creates something from nothing with just His Words. There is
such power in one word from God. Through looking at the story of creation we
can see that truth.
In Genesis 1:3, God said let
there be light, and there was light on the first day. There is power of
creation in our words, in one word from God. This is a truth I have heard many
times before. It is now that I am having to stand upon the fact. There is power
in the word God spoke. He simply said it and it happened.
Let us just focus today on the
power of God speaking a word. There is so much more to be said at another time.
Right now the question I ask is, How does the power of God’s spoken word effect
us?
If God said it you can believe
it and know it will come to past. One thing I have come to know of God is He
does not lie and He keeps his Word. God does not talk just to be talking. There
is a purpose and mission for every word God utters.
Though the instinct, at least
my instinct, is to question the word spoken because I can not see how can I
make it happen. I try with my willpower to bring the word to past. The problem
with that is I have forgotten something. The power is not in my ability, will,
or knowledge that it is going to work. It is by the power of the Word of God.
With His words God created everything in the heavens and earth, do you
understand what that means to us?
When God speaks a word over
our lives, over our situation, about the future, or through His written word;
We can confidently know the Word spoken is being created in the world around
us. It does not have to have one hint of it being possible based on our
circumstances for it to be so. God created the heavens and earth from NOTHING,
He will bring his Word to past.
"For as the
rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without
watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the
sower and bread to the eater; So will My
word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without
accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I
sent it.” – Isaiah 55:10-11
What are some ways you can
remind yourself of the Power in the Word of God?
-
I am memorizing Isaiah 55:10-11
-
I am reminding myself of what God said
-
I am taking time to reflect on what God has done
The way to remember will look
different for each of us.
What other ways can you remind yourself of the power
of a word from God?
