God's Constant Love: Your Big Girl Panties Of Purpose

Another accident.

My daughter Devyn is two and we’re striving to master the potty, but every now and then she has an accident.  She’s made a significant amount of progress in the last two weeks.  I’m excited for her growth because she has a top drawer full of big girl panties to wear.  I get disappointed when she becomes too preoccupied with her playing to communicate with me her need to use the restroom, but my love for her remains the same.

My love for her is constant … through every accident … big or small.

No matter what your “age” is in Christ … you may still have accidents as you seek to develop in a new area.  God is always excited for your growth and progress because He has a top drawer full of “big girl panties of purpose” for you to wear.  He gets disappointed when you become too preoccupied with your life to communicate with Him, but His love for you remains the same.

His love is constant … through every accident … big or small.

When Devyn has an accident I don’t give up on potty training.  She may resent me for it, but I put more pressure on her because I know she’s close to mastering the potty and I want her to secure this accomplishment.  I don’t throw the big girl panties away and I don’t go looking for another girl to give them to.  I know that she will be ready at some point and I’m committed to seeing her through this process.

When you have an accident God doesn't tell the Holy Spirit to stop His work within you.  You may resent Him for it, but He may put more pressure on you because He wants you to develop and mature in this area.  He doesn't throw away your “big girl panties of purpose” and He does not go looking for another person to fulfill your purpose.

He knows that at some point you will be ready and He’s committed to seeing you through the process.

God provides us with a glimpse of our “big girl panties of purpose” to demonstrate what we have to look forward to at the commencement of our training.  We must recognize that those panties may appear fancy compared to our plain training panties, but they also carry greater responsibility.  So, today instead of resenting God for not allowing you to wear those big girl panties of purpose … thank Him.  Those private accidents have the potential to be a source of public disgrace and shame when we step out in those “panties” before it’s time.  Embrace your season of preparation.  Trust yourself to His timing.  Commit yourself to the process.  Refuse to get hung up on each accident.  Clean up your mess and pick up where you left off.  God is with you.
