For
whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory
that conquers the world, even our faith. Who is it that is victorious over
[that conquers] the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God
[who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on that fact]? (1 John 5:4 AMP)
You
are an overcomer. After reading these words, some of you may recall certain circumstances
that have caused you to feel like you're not. Circumstances that cause you to
feel defined by your struggles, but you
are not your struggles. You already have victory over the world, the powers
of darkness, and the systems of the world by faith.
God
has supernaturally equipped you with the power to overcome. This power enables
you to overcome anything you feel that you may be struggling with right now.
The enemy
constantly bombards the mind by trying to feed us the lies that we will not
overcome this, or that. We all know what his lies sound like.
"You'll always be like this."
"You'll never stop smoking."
"You'll never be successful!"
What
is he trying to cause you to believe that you will never overcome?
Whatever
it is, tell the enemy that his lies have no
power over what God has already purposed. It's too late, because
everything that you struggle with has already been conquered for you.
In John 16:33 Jesus says,
These things I have spoken to you, that in
Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good
cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33 NKJV)
I also
love the amplified version of this verse:
I
have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace
and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and
trials and distress and frustration; but be of good
cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the
world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] (John 16:33 AMP)
Jesus
has already overcome the world. This includes its systems, its opposition, and
its power. So, that "thing"
the enemy tells you that you can't overcome has actually already been deprived of
it's power by your Father. He conquered
it for you. This "thing"
cannot control you, nor can it keep you in bondage.
Jesus has already overcome the world and rendered it powerless
over you.
As His
children—His sons and His daughters—He didn't just stop by overcoming the world
for you. He has equipped, or bestowed upon us that same overcoming power: the dynamic
power of the Holy Spirit of God. We have to believe that we overcome by
faith.
For
every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through
our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who
believe that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:4-5, NLT)
Every
child of God defeats the world and we achieve this victory by our faith. You must believe that He has already given
you the victory.
You
have to live this life every hour of every day that you are given, by faith, in
the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us. The just shall live the overcoming life by faith by trusting in the
power, might and ability of their God.
Faith
is more that simply saying verbally, "Lord,
I believe." Even the demons believe and tremble. No matter what
struggles may come our way, our faith should be evident in every aspect of our
lives.
It
should be evident in the way we handle our finances, the way we talk, and in
the way we treat each other. Our
very life must say, "Lord I believe!"
Your actions must say, "The
enemy has no power over me."
Believe
that the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made you free from the
law of sin and death. Believe that the world and the systems of this world have
no power over you.
As far as this world is concerned, we're dead to
it and it to us.
"As
for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified,
and the world’s interest in me has also died." (Galatians 6:14 NLT)
The systems of this world are dead to you and
have power over you, because you are in Christ. And because we are in Christ, we are, as the
word tells us, a new creation.
Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have
passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)
The
fresh and the new have arrived. And anything that wars against and resists the
new has already been conquered.
Walk in the overcoming power of Christ today,
and all of your days.
