Fact or Fiction

We have the ability to make what is told to us and/or thoughts that come into our mind, fact or fiction. We need to filter each thought and each criticism through the word of God, and what God says about us.

Fact:

1. A thing that is indisputably the case.

Fiction:

1. Invention or fabrication as opposed to fact.

2. A belief or statement that is false, but that is often held to be true because it is expedient to do so.

The simple truth is we feel we are unable to filter the thoughts, because it is easier to accept those things as truths. It’s less work to accept them. It takes effort, diligence and sometimes pain to filter those thoughts. Many times we assume what others say about us must be accurate because they see things about ourselves that we cannot see. The problem is people see things through their own filters. Those filters were instilled there by what they have seen and faced in their own personal lives, and in turn they view the world and others in that view, through that lens and filter. When looking through our own lens we often become deceived, because that lens may be blurry or outdated.

So where do we go to decide if something is a fact or fiction? God’s word.

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”-2 Corinthians 10:15

Another version of this verse; “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God”- King James Bible "Authorized Version"

The Bible says we are to, “take captive every thought.” When I think of taking something captive, I think of grabbing it quickly and keeping it somewhere under lock and key. I keep it there so it will not escape. That is what Gods word is telling us to do. Quarantine the thought or comment until you are able to compare it to what Gods word says.

Secondly, we are to, “make it obedient to Christ.” If we are to make it obedient to Christ, we are to heed, surrender, comply and adhere to it. Basically we are to run it through God’s lens and not through our own or others lens or filter.

What does God say about you and me?

We are accepted and predestined:

“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.”-Ephesians 1:11

We are flawless:

“You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.”- Song of Solomon 4:7

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”-Psalm 139:14

We are not talking about mainstream media’s use of the word flawless, which only bases that judgment off a set physical appearance. We are talking about the FACT that God doesn’t make junk. When you are in Christ, you are flawless because God is not flawed. God does not lie so He is not blowing smoke to make you feel good, it’s TRUTH.

We were made to have a good life, not a life of self-pity:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.-Ephesians 2:10

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”-John 10:10

We are overcomers:

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”-1 John 4:4

You are an overcomer not because of your own merit, but because of the one that’s in you. We need to start walking in the authority that nothing we face in life can outmatch He who dwells within us, NOTHING.

I urge you to put on a new lens and filter, Gods lens.
