Embracing the New You

The beginning of a new year is always filled with such excitement. Because there's something special about new beginnings that brings hope and builds anticipation. Now that you've settled into a brand new year, this is the perfect time to let go of old destructive things that have hindered you from years past. Negative thinking, fear, bad habits, doubts, etc.

God has so many great things that He has planned for your life, but sometimes our old habits, mindsets, attitudes, and thinking, can all get in the way. Let all of those things go. And choose instead, to embrace the mind-blowing destiny God has purposed just for you! And when I say embrace it, I mean embrace it with all that you are. Embrace it with your words. Embrace it with your attitude and embrace it with your actions. Let everything about you declare to God, "Lord, I agree with your plans for me!"

Embrace the "new you" with your words.

Get rid of all negative and destructive self-talk. Let your words agree with what God says about you. I mean, who are we to tear down what God Himself already calls fearfully and wonderfully made with words that are destructive? Even downright abusive at times. How dare we say, "I'm not good enough.",when God says in Eph. 2:10, that you are His masterpiece?

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.'(Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

You are God's masterpiece. His greatest creation. This is who you are. Point blank. Period. Everything about you is blessed. Your mouth is blessed. Use it to speak positive words of blessing over your own life. Decide that no longer will your own mouth be used to release negativity. Your mouth will be a source of blessing, encouragement and healing for yourself and others.

Embrace the "new you" with your attitude.

Have a consistent attitude of gratitude. You have so much to thank God for everyday. Take time to do it.

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God (Psalms 50:23 NLT)

We must choose to praise God. Even in those difficult moments, when you don't "feel" like praising—in those moments when all you want to do is cry and complain. It's easy for me, in those difficult moments, to go and throw myself across my bed, get my pillow and cry. But, something happens, when I decide that I will praise instead of pout. Something happens when I decide that I will praise Him instead of having a pity party. When we make a decision, despite difficulties, to yield to His command to praise, we bring glory and honor to Him.

Ask God to open your eyes in this season, so that you can see Him in everything. Ask Him to enable you to see that even when it's "seemingly" dark, He is still light. Praise the one who is light even when it seems dark. Give Him thanks in everything. The very fact that you are able to read this with your own two eyes is reason alone to stop and give thanks. Someone else isn't as fortunate. Someone else wishes they had sight. Embrace the new you with an unshakable attitude of gratitude.

Embrace the "new you" with your actions.

It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8 NLT).

What do I get out of this verse? Whatever God says for me to do-I do it. (Pretty deep revelation, right?) This is how you embrace the new you with your actions-You live by faith. I may not know the end at the beginning. But that's okay, because God does.

Isaiah 47:9-10 (9) Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, (10) Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’(NKJV)

God already knows the end from the very beginning. Our job is to trust Him and live by faith. The just shall live by faith. The just shall go when and where God says to go. The just shall say what God has given them to say. The just shall prepare as God tells them to prepare. I could to on and on here, but I think you get the idea. This is faith. Whatever God has said to you, your actions must correspond. Remember faith without works is useless.

Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works. (James 2:24-26 NLT)

Let's Pray:

God, today I make a choice to embrace the woman of God you've destined me to be with my entire being. I release all negative thoughts, habits, words and anything that wars against my destiny. May my life boldly declare, "Lord, I agree."
