Modesty: Turning the Tables
After sitting through a message on women and dating, I found my heart SO stirred.
“Modesty isn’t about hiding your body, it’s about revealing your dignity.”
Modesty. Hmm. A word I, quite frankly, have hated. Granted, I’m not saying I want to dress provocatively. I’ve just found the idea so restrictive. Visions of Little House on the Prairie and Sound of Music come to mind as I wrestle with “that word,” and as a passionate woman, educated in the liberal arts, I find myself conflicted when it comes to calling women to plainness.
It is Finished
I am a photographer. I love to take pictures, and so much so that I started a business doing just that back in 2010 and my motto has always been “capturing life’s precious moments” because that is my goal and intention. I want to grab hold of special moments – weddings, birthdays, pregnancies, and any other event or season of life you can dream up – for each of my clients to remember for years and years to come.
Come, Child. Be Free (An Easter Story)
Note from the author: I write as if I were sitting in front of my reader speaking. It’s the form of writing I stumbled into when I began writing very young and have grown to enjoy it the most. As a conversationalist, it allows me to really connect and feel and pretend like I really was just sitting in front of you chatting back and forth.
The Idolatry of Numbers and How Jesus Sets Us Free
I hate math, but sometimes I act as if numbers are my thing. I’ve been guilty of counting “likes” on my Instagram post, girls in my Bible study, RSVP's to my party, and visitors to my blog. Then, just like a certified hypocrite, I inwardly roll my eyes when a friend boasts about how big her church is, or posts how many words her two-year-old can say. And really, who cares how many activities you crammed into this weekend!
She Speaks
She speaks…
She speaks as if time is standing still. She speaks so that others can be free by reading her testimony. It is almost as if she imagined everyone waiting in line just to get their books signed. She speaks because she does not want to be quiet anymore, as if it were the enemy who said “let us have a moment of silence” for those who are dead!
