When things are
going well we have a tendency to depart from Jesus. We fall into
thinking we don’t need Him as much because things seem to be going our
way. We’re grateful that He’s blessed us and we ride on
the “HIGH” those blessings provide. We’re happy, satisfied, and
fulfilled until circumstances turn unfavorable. We notice an
immediate shift in our mood. We can’t even put up a fight when
our circumstances run our pockets and rob us of our joy and peace of
mind. We’re weak, unprepared, and vulnerable. We’re
spiritually empty. We’re riding on “E.” When our
spiritual tank is on “E” we panic and allow doubt to creep into our
mind. Our problem is magnified and our line of focus tends to be the
problem versus the provider.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”Matthew 11:28-30—NIV
We can’t afford to
allow our spiritual tank to drift to “E.” We must continue to
nurture our spirit through His word even when things are going
well. Life is going to happen. As long as we’re alive we
will continue to face unfortunate circumstances, challenges, and
tests. We must remain prepared. Our preparation comes
through investing time in His word. We must renew our mind on a
daily basis.
So, today remember
that our God is so much bigger than what we’re going through. God
can change everything in an instant, but our hardships serve to strengthen our
faith. Choose to live with the knowledge that God is perfecting the work
within you and intends to bring it to full completion. God loves you
personally. Trust Him wholly to love you and fulfill you. Stop,
quiet your heart, enter His rest, and allow Him to fill you up.
Spend time in God’s presence so that you are prepared to go wherever He
seeks to take you.
